Safari JOBS is recruiting an experienced, hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to join the pre-opening team of a renowned game lodge, scheduled to open in late 2026, in a spectacular wilderness area of Limpopo. This is a full-time opportunity to become a key member of a high-performing operations team within one of South Africa’s most scenic and well-established private game areas. We are seeking a candidate with a strong lodge maintenance background, capable of working and supervising a wide range of responsibilities including welding, basic electrical work, bush clearing, road grading, general building, staff training, and more. As the main ‘right hand’ to the Maintenance Manager, you will need the ability to work independently, lead small project teams, and collaborate closely with the Maintenance Manager on key projects. A critical aspect of the role includes mentoring and upskilling junior and mid-level maintenance staff - particularly in the safe and effective use of machinery, adherence to strict safety protocols, and maintaining high standards aligned with an upmarket safari lodge environment. Basic written reporting skills are required in order for an effective workflow within the department. The successful candidate must be confident and capable of stepping into the Maintenance Manager’s role when required, demonstrating leadership, initiative, and a proactive, solutions-driven approach. This is a physically demanding position that requires reliability, maturity, strong work ethic, and a calm, practical mind-set in a busy, dynamic setting. ??????? ???????????? ??? ???????????? Clear criminal record; Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal; Excellent employment track record – references will be checked; Basic computer literacy/experience with internet, word, excel and outlook; Valid / relevant driver’s licence; Currently in possession of preferably a 4x4, or at least 2x4 vehicle; Existing experience in an upmarket lodge / remote maintenance environment; Must understand 5* lodge operational standards; Experience in training others in tool and machinery use ????????? ???????? A relevant trade qualification; Experience in operating Tractors & / TLBs / front-end loaders; Code 8 or higher drivers licence / willingness to acquire; Experience in operating a chainsaw; Welding, mechanical, or generator maintenance skills; Firefighting training or firebreak-cutting experience; Familiarity with solar or off-grid systems. ?????????? ?????? A strong leader that is able to effectively manage and lead a team; Professional work ethic, a progressive mind-set, must demonstrate responsible personal habits (no excessive alcohol consumption), mature and accountable to manage your own personal logistics responsibilities; Willingness to work flexible hours and live onsite in a remote lodge setting. ???????? ?????? & ????????????: Broad technical knowledge in: Basic plumbing, Basic carpentry, painting, and minor construction; Light electrical troubleshooting; Leadership and communication skills: Ability to coordinate a team and maintain workflow when delegated; Experience in high-end lodge environments where presentation, discretion, and efficiency are essential; High level of practical problem-solving and ability to work independently ??? ???????????????? Supervise; mentor and upskilling of junior and mid-level maintenance staff, especially during manager’s absence; Maintain and repair lodge infrastructure, including: Guest areas, Staff accommodation, Utility systems (water, gas, sewage, solar, etc.); Conduct preventative maintenance and respond to repair needs promptly; Assist with bush clearing, road grading, firebreaks, and other seasonal outdoor tasks; Ensure tools, vehicles, and workshop areas are kept in excellent condition and safety compliant by cooperating with on-site mechanic; Communicate clearly and respectfully with team members, management, and other departments. If proficient, also operate and maintain: Tractors (for slashing, roadwork, and transport), TLB / Front-End Loaders (for road repair, lifting, and bush work), as well as Chainsaws (including felling, trimming, and training others on use and safety). If not proficient – Willing learn and acquire the necessary to perform these tasks. ???????????? / ??????? / ???? ????? Meals - Currently meals are provided as a basic, simple offering. A dedicated staff chef will be in place once the property is fully operational. Work/leave cycle: 7 consecutive days off per month, plus 15 leave days per annum. ????? ?? ????
