Hospitality Hire ; in partnership with The Drostdy Hotel ; managed by Valor Hospitality Partners, is recruiting a highly experienced Hotel Manager (with 5* Boutique Hotel exp) reporting to the General Manager to lead this iconic, luxury boutique hotel in Graaff-Reinet; Eastern Cape . About the Role: Hotel Manager – Graaff-Reinet We are seeking an operationally strong, service-driven Hotel Manager with proven experience in boutique hotels, luxury properties, or high-end hospitality environments . The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, guest service excellence, financial acumen, and hands-on oversight of daily operations. Location: Graaff-Reinet, Eastern Cape Eligibility: Candidates must be legally allowed to work in South Africa. No work permits available. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Operations • Oversee daily operations across all hotel departments • Lead and guide HODs to achieve service, operational, and financial goals • Uphold SOPs, luxury service standards, and guest experience excellence • Anticipate operational challenges and implement proactive solutions • Act as General Manager when required Guest Experience & Quality • Ensure personalised, high-touch guest experiences • Engage with VIPs and returning guests • Respond to feedback and oversee service recovery • Drive continuous improvement of service standards Financial Management • Collaborate with Finance on budgets, forecasts, and cost control • Monitor departmental performance and implement corrective actions • Maximise revenue, yield, and upselling opportunities • Maintain strong financial discipline across the property Human Resources & People Leadership • Lead, coach, and mentor all department heads • Drive succession planning, performance reviews, and talent development • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and service excellence • Ensure compliance with South African labour law practices Compliance & Risk Management • Ensure compliance with OHSA, HACCP, labour legislation, and hotel licensing • Maintain safety documentation and audit readiness Facilities & Maintenance • Oversee preventative maintenance programmes • Ensure guest areas meet luxury boutique standards • Support refurbishments, upgrades, and capital projects Qualifications & Experience Required • Degree or diploma in Hospitality Management (preferred) • 7–10 years’ hospitality experience with minimum 5 years in senior management (Hotel Manager, Operations Manager, or similar) within 5* boutique hotels essential. • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills • Proficiency in hotel systems such as Opera, Micros, or similar PMS/POS • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays What You Can Expect • Competitive salary package • Opportunity to work with Valor Hospitality Partners (global management group) • Beautiful, historic working environment in South Africa’s 4th-oldest town • Career growth opportunities within an international hotel portfolio • Complimentary meals on duty and uniform provided If you do not receive feedback within two weeks after the closing date, please consider your application unsuccessful.
