??? ??????????? ??????????? is partnering with a well-established safari company, operating camps and lodges across East Africa, to recruit an experienced ???? ?? ??????? ??? ???????? to lead its guiding teams. As custodian of the company’s guiding philosophy, the successful candidate will ensure that every guide employed by the company delivers a consistent and outstanding safari experience. The role recognises that sound wildlife knowledge is the foundation, while true guiding excellence comes from emotional intelligence, warmth, storytelling and the ability to read each guest. The successful candidate will set group-wide guiding standards and own the master guiding curriculum, assessment tools and practical handbooks. Training will centre on guest-focused guiding, teaching guides to observe and listen, anticipate guest needs, know when to share and when to allow quiet, and move from fact-based commentary to immersive, narrative-driven storytelling. The role follows a multi-tiered training model, delivering key training and assessments directly, empowering senior guides to coach within their regions, and overseeing external specialists for technical modules. Further responsibilities include establishing Head Guide structures in each country, training Country Head Guides in people management and coaching, and identifying future leaders through clear career pathways. The successful candidate will also create, test and refresh guest activities suited to each landscape, from walking safaris and night drives to river, cultural and family experiences, with clear operating and safety procedures in place. Key Responsibilities · Act as custodian of the guiding philosophy and set consistent guiding standards across all properties. · Own and develop the guiding curriculum, training programmes and soft-skills development of all guides. · Empower guides to deliver personalised safari experiences and use guest feedback to raise standards. · Support strategy and regional growth through a scalable guiding framework. · Lead and develop Head Guides in each country and build clear career pathways for future leaders. · Develop new guest activities and refresh existing experiences across all properties. Requirements · A minimum of 10 years’ professional safari guiding experience and qualifications, with a proven record in senior guiding leadership and training · A strong background in high-end, luxury safari operations · Broad knowledge of East African wildlife, ecosystems and conservation · A track record of taking ownership of guest feedback and guiding related complaints and turning them into improved standards · A natural educator who enjoys developing people and building future leaders · The ability to model and teach empathy, warmth, guest awareness and discreet luxury service · The ability to design regional systems while remaining practical and grounded in field operations · An understated, authentic and humble leadership style with quiet confidence · The ability to build trust across diverse teams, country leaders and external partners · Sound judgement under pressure, in safety situations and when handling guest challenges · Fluency in spoken and written English, with Swahili being an advantage · Willingness to travel extensively across East Africa · Experience working across multiple countries and bringing new properties or acquisitions into a single guiding standard is highly advantageous Salary – On application PLEASE NOTE – Although we appreciate all applications received, we will only reply to those candidates who have the background and experience required.
