Our client is a well-established luxury safari and conservation group operating an impressive portfolio of camps and lodges across Tanzania. With deep roots in wildlife conservation, community development, and the delivery of exceptional guest experiences, this is an organisation where operational discipline meets genuine purpose. This is a great opportunity to step into a senior, group-level leadership role within a business that is truly embedded in the East African safari landscape. Reporting to the Operations Director, the successful candidate will carry full accountability for all Back of House operations across the group’s portfolio – encompassing the guides department, transport and fleet, technical maintenance, security, grounds and estate, and logistics. This is a broad, hands-on leadership position requiring someone who can set strategic direction while staying close enough to the detail to drive efficiency, compliance, and cost control. The role spans multiple sites including bush camps, a main office and workshop, and a remote technical outpost, and demands strong cross-functional collaboration with procurement, finance, and property management teams. ???????????? · A minimum of 5 to 8 years’ experience in a senior operational management role, preferably within the luxury hospitality, safari, or conservation sector in East Africa. · Demonstrated ability to manage diverse operational functions simultaneously – including fleet and transport, security, technical maintenance, and grounds management. · Strong financial acumen with proven experience in budget preparation, cost monitoring, and procurement oversight across multiple departments. · A track record of leading and developing multi-disciplinary teams across dispersed, remote locations. · Solid knowledge of health, safety, and compliance requirements relevant to safari and conservation operations, including safety audits and emergency protocols. · Familiarity with Tanzanian regulatory requirements, including permits, legal compliance, and firearms registration where applicable. · Hands-on problem-solving ability with the capability to develop, implement, and enforce standard operating procedures across all BOH functions. · Experience in asset management, including vehicles, plant, machinery, and operational equipment, with an understanding of maintenance planning and asset registers. · Proficient in Microsoft Office; comfortable with operational reporting and basic financial tools. · An effective communicator and collaborator – able to engage with both field-level teams and senior management with equal confidence. · Valid driving licence and willingness to travel regularly between multiple operational sites within Tanzania. · Contactable references essential.
