General Manager – Luxury Tented Safari Camp | Tanzania Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced and inspiring General Manager to lead the operations of a renowned luxury tented safari camp in Tanzania . This live-in position offers an incredible opportunity for a highly motivated and dynamic hospitality professional to manage a world-class safari experience in one of Africa’s most iconic destinations. Salary: Negotiable, dependent on experience | Live-In Key Responsibilities Leadership & Relationship Management Build and maintain strong relationships with staff, guests, local authorities, community stakeholders, industry partners, and other lodges. Provide disciplined and inspirational leadership to the camp team, ensuring a culture of excellence, accountability, and service integrity. Represent the property professionally, hosting VIP guests, media, and travel trade representatives. Operational & Financial Management Oversee daily operations of multiple tented camps, ensuring seamless coordination across all departments. Lead daily briefings with Camp Managers and Heads of Department to review operations, maintenance, guest arrivals, and special events. Ensure operational equipment, vehicles, generators, and facilities are maintained at optimal efficiency. Develop; manage, and monitor budgets, including CAPEX planning and cost control measures. Drive business efficiencies through sustainable practices, local procurement, and quality assurance. Guest Experience & Product Development Elevate the guest experience through meticulous attention to detail across all touchpoints – accommodation, dining, activities, and service. Collaborate with the Executive Chef and service teams to maintain culinary excellence and uphold brand standards. Continuously assess and enhance the lodge’s offering to ensure it remains at the forefront of luxury safari hospitality. Create and implement strategies for guest delight, including unique bush experiences and personalised service initiatives. Human Capital & Training Oversee all aspects of staff welfare, labour relations, and team development. Implement annual and monthly training plans for all departments and coordinate external training opportunities. Mentor and coach Heads of Department and junior managers to foster professional growth. Maintain and enhance the Human Capital structure to align with organisational values and objectives. Community & Conservation Engagement Collaborate on community development and wildlife conservation initiatives within the Serengeti ecosystem. Support sustainable tourism practices that contribute positively to local communities and the environment. Ensure alignment with the company’s ethos of conservation, culture, and community impact. Knowledge & Qualifications Required A minimum of 10 years’ management experience within a 5-star hospitality environment. Relevant Hotel Management qualification or equivalent. Strong financial and operational management skills . Valid driver’s licence . Skills & Attributes Energetic; proactive, and service-driven with a passion for delivering world-class guest experiences. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Strategic thinker with strong organisational and problem-solving abilities. High attention to detail, integrity, and professionalism under pressure. Ability to inspire, motivate, and develop diverse teams. Strong computer literacy and financial acumen. Previous Experience Proven experience managing a five-star safari or lodge operation with over 20 beds. At least five years of management experience in East Africa . Demonstrated success in guest relations, team management, and multi-departmental leadership.
