Platform Data Engineer – Microsoft Fabric | Azure | Financial Services

PBT Group is seeking a Platform Data Engineer to join a Platform Engineering team operating within a large-scale financial services environment. The role is focused on data platform engineering and enablement.

You will be responsible for designing, building, and operating a Microsoft Fabric–based data platform, with a strong emphasis on pipeline development, orchestration, CI/CD automation, and platform reliability.

Note: This role does not include Power BI report development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and operate data ingestion and transformation pipelines in Microsoft Fabric

• Build and manage end-to-end platform capabilities, including orchestration, scheduling, monitoring, and error handling

• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Fabric artefacts and supporting Azure services

• Engineer reusable, standardised data pipeline patterns to enable downstream data engineering and analytics teams

• Ensure platform performance, scalability, security, and availability in a regulated financial environment

• Apply data governance, access control, and quality standards at platform level

• Contribute to platform architecture decisions and ongoing optimisation of the Fabric environment

Technical Skills & Experience:

Required

• Strong experience with Azure data services (e.g. storage, integration, compute)

• Hands-on experience building and operating Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Data Pipelines, orchestration, platform configuration)

• Advanced experience building data pipelines and managing dependencies and failure handling

• Solid understanding of Power BI at the platform level (datasets, semantic models, workspaces, integration — not report development)

• Proven experience implementing CI/CD for data platforms using Azure DevOps or similar tooling

• Strong SQL skills and experience working with large-scale datasets

Advantageous

• Experience in financial services or regulated enterprise environments

• Exposure to platform engineering or enablement teams

• Experience implementing security, governance, and data access controls at scale

• Comfortable working independently and contributing to platform design and technical standards
