Safari JOBS is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Field Guide to join a vibrant team at a private luxury game reserve located approximately 1.5 hours from Pretoria. The reserve is home to an impressive variety of plains game, including Eland, Giraffe, and Zebra, as well as Buffalo and Hippo. It also operates a specialised rare-species breeding programme, featuring Sable, Impala variants, and Golden Wildebeest. The area is further renowned as a bird lover’s paradise, with a rich diversity of birdlife. While the primary focus of the role will be field guiding, the successful candidate will also play an active, hands-on role as Breeding Programme Supervisor within the reserve’s rare-species breeding programme. This will include involvement in game management activities such as darting, capturing, dipping, deworming, and feeding, in addition to supervising and supporting a small, dedicated team of four staff members within the department. Previous experience in game breeding is advantageous; however, training will be provided for the right candidate with the appropriate attitude and aptitude. Beyond guiding and breeding operations, the role requires a flexible, proactive team player who is willing to assist wherever needed across the reserve and lodge property. Own transport; Game breeding experience – advantage; Passion for Birding / Specialist birding knowledge or experience ?????? & ???????????????? Game Drives; Guided Bush Walks; Running / training to run the breeding program / breeding programme duties; Assisting with lodge and reserve related maintenance; Assistance with other general duties around the lodge e.g. room checks, guest interaction etc; BONUS - No washing of game viewer required, done by maintenance team on Friday’s ???????????? / ??????? / ???? ????? R9; 500.00 gross per month; Accommodation: VERY NICE private & secluded single accommodation with a small living area, kitchenette, and en-suite bathroom (shower and loo). Furnished with essentials, including a bed, couch, TV, wardrobe, cutlery, crockery, and a mini 2-plate stove/oven. You may only need to bring your own fridge; Gratuities: You keep any direct tips but must declare to management. Credit card tips are shared amongst the team; 13th cheque - based on performance, after a full year of employment; Potential for provident fund after first 3 months / upon permanent employment – not mandatory; Wi-Fi provided. Good Vodacom cell signal; Uniform; Laundry facilities on site for staff to do their washing; Meals: Although meals are not included the property is situated only 7km from the nearest town. A town trip, that you can join, is done once a week for groceries or you are welcome to shop for yourself if you have a vehicle. Work/leave cycle: 2 days off per week worked. The schedule is ???? ????????, allowing you to accumulate off days, combine them with annual leave, or arrange time off for appointments as needed, except during peak periods such as December / large group bookings etc. Additionally - 15 leave days per annum. ??????????? ???????
