About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Parts Distribution Centre (PDC) Manager to oversee the end-to-end operations of its aftermarket parts distribution facility supporting the construction, mining and heavy equipment sectors.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing warehouse operations, inventory control, distribution, logistics and team performance to ensure the efficient availability and delivery of spare parts to dealers, branches and customers throughout South Africa and the SADC region.
This is an excellent opportunity for a results-driven supply chain professional with strong leadership experience within the heavy equipment, automotive, industrial or aftermarket environment.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 (Matric)
Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management or a related field
Minimum 5–8 years' experience in aftermarket supply chain, warehouse or distribution centre management
Previous management experience within a warehouse or distribution centre environment
Strong understanding of inventory management, warehouse operations and logistics
Experience working with ERP, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and CRM platforms
Computer literate in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Valid driver's license
Advantageous
Experience within the construction, mining, earthmoving, heavy equipment or automotive industries
Knowledge of aftermarket parts operations
Experience managing dealer or branch distribution networks
Understanding of import/export and bonded warehouse processes
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse & Distribution Management
Manage the daily operations of the Parts Distribution Centre, including receiving, warehousing, picking, packing and dispatch
Ensure efficient order fulfilment and on-time delivery to customers, dealers and branches
Optimise warehouse layouts, storage systems and operational workflows
Develop and implement standard operating procedures to improve operational efficiency
Oversee warehouse infrastructure, equipment and material handling processes
Inventory Management
Maintain optimum inventory levels to support customer demand while controlling inventory costs
Monitor inventory accuracy through cycle counts and annual stock takes
Manage obsolete, excess and slow-moving stock
Work closely with procurement and planning teams to improve demand forecasting and replenishment
Ensure accurate inventory reporting and stock reconciliation
Team Leadership
Recruit, lead, coach and develop warehouse personnel
Manage team performance and productivity
Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and operational excellence
Conduct staff training and performance reviews
Logistics & Stakeholder Management
Coordinate transport providers and third-party logistics partners
Work closely with parts sales, procurement, finance and service departments
Support dealer and customer requirements relating to parts availability and delivery
Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Financial & Operational Performance
Develop and manage warehouse operational budgets
Control labour, transport, storage and operational costs
Monitor and report on key performance indicators including:
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across warehouse and logistics operations
Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations
Promote a strong safety culture within the warehouse
Ensure compliance with customs, import/export and company operating procedures
Lead warehouse audits and continuous compliance initiatives
