Events and Sales Manager required for an Upmarket Champagne Bar based in the Rosebank region. Role Overview: As the Events & Operations Coordinator ; you are the primary custodian of our client’s premium upstairs Champagne Bar and Venue. This is an end-to-end leadership role where you are responsible for filling the space, delivering flawless event execution, and driving consistent profitability. You will be the face of the venue—both to internal teams and high-profile clients—ensuring the space remains a cutting-edge, premium destination in the Johannesburg market. This role carries high accountability; a meaningful portion of the remuneration package is performance-linked, rewarding commercial thinking and total ownership. Core Responsibilities: 1. Full Event Ownership & Execution: Manage the entire event lifecycle from initial enquiry to final close-out. Develop timelines, run sheets, and logistics for every booking. Coordinate menus, beverage service, and staffing flow in collaboration with the Chef and GM. Lead the floor during events as the primary host and decision-maker. Conduct post-event reporting, including financial reconciliation and "lessons learned." Sales & Calendar Management: Drive active occupancy, specifically targeting Wednesday through Sunday. Build and maintain relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and luxury brands. Proactively generate demand through strategic programming and partnerships. Maintain a robust forward pipeline to ensure the venue is consistently booked. 3. Client Management & Professional Hosting: Provide fast, professional communication and transparent quoting. Set clear expectations with clients to ensure a "no-surprises" experience. Solve problems immediately on-site without the need for escalation. Ensure every host feels fully supported, creating a "I have a person who has it handled" level of trust. 4. Operational Coordination & Team Leadership: Liaise seamlessly with the GM, Kitchen, Bar, and Floor teams. Manage staff scheduling, setup checklists, and operational readiness for every event. Oversee stock control for upstairs inventory and manage suppliers/contractors. Ensure smooth integration between the main restaurant and lounge operations. 5. Financial Discipline & Profitability: Take full ownership of event profitability, including stock ordering and tracking. Minimize breakages, waste, and shrinkage (Target: Maintain tight control over food and beverage costs. Ensure Gross Profit and EBITDA targets are met consistently. 6. Venue Standards & Excellence: Maintain "flawless" standards for setup, cleanliness, and presentation. Ensure lighting, music, and ambient elements are precise and intentional. Oversee Grooming and Presentation (GMP) to ensure the staff is polished and aligned with a premium brand. 7. Innovation & Programming: Proactively introduce fresh concepts: themed supper clubs, DJ sessions, brand collaborations, and influencer tastings. Ensure the venue remains a destination of choice by staying ahead of Johannesburg market trends.
