Key Job Responsibility
Installations of databases and application servers with the required server and diagnosing and resolving database and server problems where required, to that the systems perform accordingly.
Provide input into disaster planning/mitigation/recovery, capacity and scalability planning for Oracle applications.
To provide input assistance with physical design of database and application servers.
Pro-actively monitor, improve and timely maintain the database and application systems to ensure secure servers with minimum downtime and optimum performance including rollout and upgrades of Oracle Software. Use tools to automate the maintenance, monitor and alert notification of database and application server.
Identify required changes and patches and implement them in line with the system requirements.
Adhere to standard operating procedures to ensure that the required standards and objectives are met.
Interact with the Unix Support team to ensure the availability and optimum performance of associated hardware resources allocated to the databases.
To report database and application servers trend analysis to the relevant supervisor.
To participate in a standby rotation for afterhours support and maintenance to ensure the timeous availability of the system.
Responsible for resolving the Oracle workflow processes that are critical to business process to ensure the smooth running of the system.
Mentor junior team members for capacity building.
To write and provide reports on Oracle and application servers to ensure that management is timeously updated
Minimum requirements & key competency
Degree/ Diploma in Information Technology Oracle DBA Certification (OCP)
2 - 3 years Oracle Database Experience.
Knowledge of working with Unix/ Linux
Knowledge of working with SQL, PL and Oracle Database Tools
Good communications skills
Ability to work under pressure
