Job Summary
ENVIRONMENT:
A leading Cloud Solutions company is seeking a DevOps and Infrastructure Engineer who will be responsible for bridging the gap between code and customers. This hands-on specialist will own the end-to-end CI/CD lifecycle, manage their scaling Kubernetes environment, and ensure that "Push to Production" is a non-event. The successful candidate will be able to empower a small development team by building and implementing the framework and controls that enable delivery efficiency while limiting risk. The development team is primarily responsible for creating, enhancing, integrating and maintaining complex custom-designed and off-the-shelf software systems. The team also provides input into technical designs, including investigating complex problems and proposing solutions.
DUTIES:
- Pipeline Automation: Design, build, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Flux) to automate testing, security scanning, and deployment.
- Kubernetes Orchestration: Manage and scale their production K8s clusters (On-Prem), ensuring high availability, resource optimization, and seamless deployment.
- Release Management: Ensure that production releases are deployed in a manner that minimizes downtime.
- Observability & Reliability: Implement deep-stack monitoring and alerting (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki) to proactively identify bottlenecks before they affect their customers.
- Security, and Process Adherence: Establish, uphold, and enforce technical standards, established engineering methodologies (including CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code), and security protocols across the entire delivery lifecycle, ensuring all infrastructure and code deployments adhere to departmental processes and procedures
- Contributing to software architecture planning
- Participate in regular sprints meetings
- Documentation: ensure system documentation, release notes, installation notes and user guides are created and maintained
- Contributing to establishing process & refining/optimising operational processes
- Assist in managing infrastructure components and hosting environments
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications and Experience:
- Formal tertiary qualification (Degree or diploma in Computer Science, IT or Engineering) or equivalent experience essential.
- 5+ years of working development experience essential.
- Project Life Cycle and software development methodologies essential.
- Expert knowledge with Linux and Bash scripting essential.
- Expert knowledge of Docker builds and maintaining a Kubernetes environment essential.
- Strong working knowledge with CI/CD pipeline and related software preferrable. They use Github Actions, Jenkins and Flux.
- Working knowledge with Git / GitHub essential
- Working knowledge of IP Networking essential
- Working knowledge of Client/Server and integration technologies essential
- Experience with VoIP, WebRTC and other telecommunications standards preferable
- Ability to understand, troubleshoot and debug technical issues
