Job Summary
Wine Estate based in the Stellenbosch I Brackenfell area is looking for a Cellar Assistant to support the winemakers with daily wine production ; focusing on cleaning equipment ; conducting pump-overs; racking ; and maintaining sanitation standards . You will be assisting throughout the winemaking process - from harvesting to bottling - ensuring wine quality and operating cellar equipment like pumps and presses, requiring heavy lifting and a Wine & Spirit Education Trust WSET's winery worker qualification. Duties: Punch downs, pump-overs, racking, blending, and stabilizing wines. Rigorous cleaning and sanitizing of tanks, barrels, hoses, and general cellar areas. Assisting with receiving, crushing, and pressing grapes. Filling and emptying barrels, moving wine, and operating machinery such as forklifts, pumps, and filters. Analysing juice and wine samples. Assisting with bottling line operations. Requirements: Previous experience in a winery or cellar is preferred. Ability to lift heavy items, work with machinery, and stand for long periods, sometimes in varied temperatures. Basic understanding of winemaking processes, sanitation, and safety procedures. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
