Job Summary
Restaurant Group based in Rosebank is looking for a highly competent, hands-on Senior Buyer – Central Distribution Centre to manage procurement for their central distribution, which supplies all production across the business including grab-and-go meals, bakery, sauces ; and desserts. This is a fast-paced; high-pressure environment requiring someone who can balance commercial acumen, operational urgency ; and strong stakeholder management. Duties: Own end-to-end buying for the Distribution Centre, including fresh produce, bulk ingredients (oils, grains, dry goods), and non-food items (cleaning materials, consumables, etc.) Develop and manage accurate forecasting models to ensure consistent supply across all production lines Maintain optimal stock levels ensuring availability without overstocking or waste, particularly within fresh categories Continuously monitor and manage cost prices, identifying discrepancies and acting immediately Lead supplier negotiations to secure the best quality and pricing, while maintaining strong, reliable relationships Identify and resolve stock, pricing, and supply discrepancies proactively Work closely with operations and stores, managing constant communication and demand changes Requirements: Proven experience in a senior buying/procurement role, ideally within food, FMCG, or a production-driven environment Strong experience in forecasting, particularly across both fresh/perishable and bulk categories Deep understanding of stock management principles in a high-volume environment Confident negotiator with the ability to push back and hold suppliers accountable High attention to detail with a track record of managing cost accuracy and margin control Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage internal pressure from multiple stakeholders Resilient; decisive, and able to operate effectively in a high-noise, fast-moving environment Commercially sharp with a constant focus on cost and margin Hands-on and proactive Able to challenge suppliers and internal teams when needed Highly organised with the ability to prioritise under pressure Detail-driven with a low tolerance for errors in pricing, stock, or supply
