Job Summary
A luxury private game reserve in the Western Cape is seeking an experienced and hands-on ASSISTANT LODGE MANAGEMENT COUPLE for their property. This unique role is ideal for a team where one partner focuses on Field Guiding and general maintenance, while the other oversees Reservations, Administration, and Management Support. The position requires professionalism, flexibility, and a genuine passion for hospitality, conservation, and guest experience. Role 1: (Field Guide and General Maintenance) Candidate Responsibilities: Conduct guided game drives and walking safaris (where qualified) Share knowledge of wildlife, ecology, and conservation with guests Ensure guest safety during all activities Create memorable, personalized guest experiences Perform general lodge and reserve maintenance, including vehicles and equipment Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, and mechanical tasks Maintain roads, signage, and outdoor areas Support reserve management tasks as needed Assist with guest logistics and transfers Support lodge operations during busy periods Work closely with management to ensure smooth daily operations Core Criteria: Valid FGASA qualification (minimum Level 1 preferred) PDP and valid driver’s licence Hands-on maintenance skills and problem-solving ability Strong communication and guest-facing skills Physically fit and flexible Previous lodge or reserve experience essential Role 2: (Reservations, Admin & Management Assistant) Candidate Responsibilities: Manage reservations, enquiries, and confirmations Maintain booking systems, rates, and availability Communicate with guests before, during, and after their stay Liaise with agents and tour operators General lodge administration and filing Assist with invoicing, payments, and basic financial admin Prepare reports for management Maintain guest records and operational documentation Support management with daily operations Coordinate staff schedules and operational logistics Assist with guest check-ins, check-outs, and special requests Ensure brand standards and guest expectations are upheld Core Criteria: Reservations and hospitality administration experience Experience with Nightsbridge or similar systems Strong computer literacy (email, booking systems, Excel/Google Workspace) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Highly organized, detail-oriented, and professional Ability to work independently under pressure Experience in luxury hospitality preferred Couple Criteria: Proven experience working together in a lodge or hospitality environment Strong teamwork and communication skills Professional; guest-focused, and adaptable Willingness to live on-site in a remote location This is a live-in position with a one bedroom flat suitable for a couple.
