Job Summary
Kendrick Recruitment is seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager to join an exclusive private island lodge in Zanzibar. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on hospitality professional who enjoys being involved across all areas of lodge operations and is passionate about creating exceptional guest experiences. Working closely with the General Manager, the successful candidate will help lead the team, maintain the lodge's luxury standards and support the continued development of the operation. Key Responsibilities Support the General Manager with the day-to-day operation and strategic direction of the lodge Maintain consistently high standards across guest services, housekeeping, butler service and food and beverage Be visible and involved in guest interactions, arrivals, room allocations and overall guest experience Assist with staff training, mentoring, performance management and development Support HR administration, including contracts, employee files, disciplinary processes and monthly reporting Assist with budgeting, operational planning and OPEX and CAPEX management Coordinate procurement, uniform orders and supplier relationships Maintain operational task lists, procedures and product standards Assist with project management and communication with regional support teams Oversee administrative duties and weekly and monthly reporting Support social media, public relations and resort communications Build positive relationships with local authorities, partners and community stakeholders Support the resort’s conservation and community development initiatives Requirements Higher Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management At least 3–4 years’ experience in a similar senior hospitality management position Strong understanding of luxury lodge operations Excellent spoken and written English Strong computer, administration and reporting skills Previous experience with budgeting, staff management and operational planning The ideal candidate will be a confident and approachable leader with excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure. A genuine passion for guest service, team development and island hospitality is essential.
