About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Marketing & Sales Manager to lead revenue growth, strengthen brand presence, and expand market share across local and export channels within a dynamic red meat processing environment.
This role is ideal for a results-oriented professional with strong industry knowledge, a proven sales track record, and the ability to align commercial strategy with operational delivery.
Key Responsibilities ? Sales & Business Development
- Develop and execute sales strategies across wholesale, retail, and export markets
- Identify and secure new business opportunities, including informal trade and institutional clients
- Manage key client relationships, negotiate contracts, and drive revenue growth
- Monitor market trends, pricing, and demand to optimise sales performance
- Produce sales forecasts and performance reports
? Marketing & Brand Management
- Plan and implement marketing campaigns to increase brand visibility
- Oversee product packaging, labelling, and promotional materials
- Coordinate digital, trade, and on-site marketing initiatives
- Represent the business at trade shows, expos, and industry events
? Customer Relationship Management
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and retention
- Handle customer queries and resolve complaints efficiently
- Conduct regular client engagement and feedback sessions
? Pricing & Product Strategy
- Develop and manage pricing strategies aligned to market conditions
- Optimise product mix and margins based on grading and demand
- Track competitor activity and industry trends
? Compliance & Operations Alignment
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations (DAFF, HACCP, export standards)
- Collaborate with operations, logistics, and finance to align supply and demand
- Support export processes including documentation and certifications
? Team Leadership
- Lead, manage, and develop the Sales & Marketing team
- Drive performance, training, and staff development initiatives
- Ensure adherence to company policies, SOPs, and safety standards
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Diploma/Degree in Marketing, Sales, Business Administration or related field
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in sales/marketing within:
- Meat processing
- FMCG
- Agricultural sector
Key Experience & Skills
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets
- Strong knowledge of red meat products, grading, pricing, and packaging
- Experience with retail, wholesale, and/or export markets
- Solid understanding of compliance standards (DAFF, HACCP, SABS)
- Proficiency in CRM/ERP systems (e.g. Sage, Pastel, Salesforce)
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills
- Commercially astute with strong analytical ability
