Job Summary
Our Client, a market leader in the Healthcare Industry, is seeking to employ an experienced Reinsurance Manager to their team based in Sandton, Gauteng.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the non-life reinsurance function, providing leadership to the team, and delivering optimised reinsurance solutions to clients. The role will focus on enhancing client engagement, strengthening internal capabilities, and supporting overall business growth.
Requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12
- Relevant Degree and Insurance qualification
- FAIS compliant
- Minimum 10 years’ experience within the insurance or reinsurance industry
- Experience within the cell captive environment (advantageous)
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Strong understanding of:
- Cell captive structures
- Reinsurance markets
- UMAs and general insurance sectors
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management
- Lead and manage the reinsurance team and support functions
- Build internal capacity and reduce reliance on external service providers
- Provide training and mentorship across divisions
Reinsurance Strategy and Client Engagement
- Deliver optimised reinsurance solutions to clients
- Structure reinsurance programmes aligned to strategic objectives
- Enhance client relationships and engagement
Negotiation and Market Engagement
- Negotiate renewals and new business with reinsurers and brokers
- Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
- Monitor market developments and assess risk exposure
Reporting and Analysis
- Compile quarterly portfolio performance reports
- Analyse claims development, pricing models, and underwriting strategies
- Produce monthly management reports
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to reinsurance guidelines and processes
- Contribute to statutory and regulatory reporting
- Monitor key risk indicators and maintain risk registers
- Support audit processes and regulatory submissions
Operational Oversight
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of reinsurance contracts
- Collate underwriting data and risk profiles
- Facilitate stakeholder communication across internal and external parties
