Pastry Chef – Plettenberg Bay, Western Cape

Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a talented and passionate Pastry Chef to join an exclusive luxury lodge and equestrian retreat in Plettenberg Bay, Western Cape. Key responsibilities:

• Prepare and present a variety of high-quality pastries, desserts, cakes and baked goods to an exceptional standard.
  

• Develop creative and seasonal dessert menus that complement the establishment’s culinary offering.
  

• Ensure consistency, quality and attention to detail in all pastry preparations and presentations.
  

• Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene, cleanliness and food safety in accordance with industry regulations.
  

• Manage pastry ingredients, stock levels and ordering to minimise waste and maintain cost control.
  

• Work collaboratively with the wider kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.
  

• Keep up to date with current pastry trends and introduce innovative ideas where appropriate.
  

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a professional pastry kitchen, preferably within a luxury lodge, hotel or fine-dining environment.
  

• A relevant culinary qualification in pastry or baking would be advantageous.
  

• Strong technical pastry skills, creativity and an excellent eye for detail.
  

• Good organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  

• A sound understanding of food hygiene, safety standards and stock control.
  

• A professional attitude, a strong work ethic and a genuine passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.
  

Salary: R20,000 – R30,000 per month, depending on experience.
