Stellenpak, a well-established fruit packing and cooling enterprise in Paarl, serving a niche market segment in the fruit industry, is looking for Cold Store Shift Supervisor to join the team.
The incumbent is responsible for supervising cold storage operations, particularly for citrus, pome and stone fruits, while ensuring efficiency, quality and adherence to procedures. Reporting to the Shift Manager, the incumbent will oversee pallet and bin intakes, dispatches, temperature control, degreening, SMART FRESH, drenching and sample-related tasks. Additionally, he/she will manage bin handling, stacking, force cooling tunnels, holding room operations, and the re-labelling, repacking, and re-inspection of pallets - ensuring optimal use of resources and effective team management.
Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage cold storage operations, ensuring efficiency, quality and compliance with procedures.
Supervise pallet and Class 3 bin dispatches in line with company protocols.
Oversee the intake of pallets and bins, ensuring proper handling and record-keeping.
Manage degreening, SMART FRESH applications and drenching-related processes.
Monitor and regulate fruit and room temperatures to maintain product integrity.
Supervise sample-related activities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards.
Oversee bin handling, stacking, force cooling tunnels and holding room operations.
Ensure proper re-labelling, repacking and re-inspection of pallets.
Manage people and resources effectively to optimise workflow and productivity.
Enforce health, safety and quality control measures in all operational activities.
Requirements:
At least 3 years of experience in cold storage operations - preferably at a supervisory level.
Relevant qualification in Operations Management, Agriculture, Cold Storage Management or Warehouse Operations would be beneficial.
Proven expertise in handling citrus, pome and stone fruits within a cold storage environment.
Valid forklift license.
Basic technical skills relevant to cold storage operations.
Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
Familiarity with system-related activities and operational tracking.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive operational success.
High level of dependability, reliability and the ability to work independently.
Quick adaptability and problem-solving skills in a dynamic environment.
Attention to detail and a strong understanding of operational requirements.
Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and management.
Willingness to work shifts.
