An intimate, luxury safari lodge set within a private conservancy in Kenya's Laikipia region is seeking an experienced OPERATIONS MANAGER to join their leadership team. This is a hands-on, guest-facing role for someone who thrives on variety, from supervising multiple departments to stepping into relief management duties when needed. You'll work closely with the Lodge Manager and department heads to keep a small, high-end operation running at its best. Core Criteria: Proven operational management experience in a luxury lodge or hotel environment Strong leadership and team management abilities Excellent communication and guest engagement skills Proficiency in reporting, analysis, and identifying cost-saving opportunities Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, including relief roles for key managers Highly organised with strong multitasking skills Proactive problem-solver with a focus on guest satisfaction Adaptable and resourceful under pressure Collaborative leader committed to team development and high standards Core Responsibilities: Supervise the Safari Shop, Night Porter, housekeeping, maintenance, and massage teams, providing daily briefings and feedback Act as liaison between department heads and the Lodge Manager to ensure smooth daily operations Engage proactively with guests, hosting meals, resolving concerns, and supporting teams during peak periods Attend HOD meetings, conduct operational walkthroughs, and review guest feedback Submit performance reports and identify opportunities for operational improvement and cost savings Facilitate training and mentor direct reports for leadership growth Oversee full lodge operations during the Lodge Manager's absences, ensuring consistency across departments Step into F&B Manager duties when required, coordinating kitchen and service teams and managing stock and costs Manage housekeeping schedules and inspect guest and staff accommodation for presentation standards Provide detailed handovers to returning managers and act as primary guest contact during transitions This is a live-in position.
