JOB PURPOSE
To oversee the team (lead, guide, and mentor) in accordance with best practices and in the business’ best interests to achieve overall profitability, smooth running of and exceed customer expectations
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
General Management
Liaising with Shipping Lines and other service providers
Managing subordinates, including daily management, appraisals and disciplinary action
Responsible for the overall profitability of branch, and ensuring the accounts department receive all necessary documentation and figures for financials
Process both import and export files- Air, sea and road from start to invoicing/delivery, costing and closing
Check Stack Dates/ATA and monitor all containers and LCL shipments
Process SAD500 for both Imports/ Exports/ RIT
Process EUR1/SI/Certificate/ Haz Applications and arrange fumigation/inspections
Full handling of shipments from estimating to closing of the file at month end
Attend to queries/ correspondence
Communicate with clients and suppliers, ensuring growth in support
Maintain a sufficiently skilled and experienced team to provide a high level of customer satisfaction
Recruit, interview and cross-train staff
Manage, train, mentor, develop and discipline staff
Backup in office for rest of team

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
Matric (as a minimum)
Further shipping or logistics courses or certificates will be advantageous
Minimum five years managerial experience in operational role or similar position
Minimum seven experience in import Bill of Entry tariffing and import and export procedures (sea and air, groupage and FCLs) as a Client Controller
Working Knowledge of SARS Tariffing and rules and regulations for bill of entry processing, especially for imports where duty is applicable
Computer literacy: Outlook and Excel, and beneficial if worked on Shipshape
