A leading private game reserve and luxury hospitality group is seeking an experienced and people-focused Head of Human Resources to join their Johannesburg head office team. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic HR professional with a strong operational mindset and a genuine passion for the hospitality, tourism, or safari industry. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping company culture, driving HR strategy, and supporting teams across multiple properties and departments. The Role As Head of HR, you will oversee all aspects of the human resources function across the business, ensuring the company attracts, develops, and retains exceptional talent while maintaining a positive and high-performing workplace culture. You will work closely with senior leadership and operational teams, providing both strategic guidance and hands-on HR support within a fast-paced hospitality environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the full HR function across the business Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and best practices Oversee recruitment, onboarding, staff retention, and succession planning Support and guide managers on employee relations, disciplinary matters, and performance management Drive staff wellness, engagement, and company culture initiatives Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation and HR standards Manage training, development, and performance review processes Oversee payroll input, HR administration, and employee records Build strong relationships with lodge management teams and department heads Provide strategic HR input to support company growth and operational excellence Requirements Previous HR management experience within a hospitality, tourism, lodge, or safari business is essential Strong understanding of South African labour legislation and HR best practices Proven leadership and people management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Highly organised, professional, and discreet Ability to manage both strategic and operational HR functions Experience supporting multiple departments or properties advantageous Relevant HR qualification
