Kendrick Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a luxury private game reserve in Hoedspruit for an experienced Executive Chef to lead the culinary operation and establish a brand-new kitchen to luxury standards.
This role is ideal for a hands-on, highly organised chef with strong leadership skills and proven experience in setting up kitchens from the ground up within a luxury hospitality or lodge environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and establish a brand-new kitchen, including layout, equipment, systems, and workflows
Design and execute high-quality menus aligned with a luxury safari experience
Oversee all food preparation, presentation, and service standards
Manage kitchen staff, including recruitment, training, and performance management
Control food costs, stock ordering, waste management, and budgeting
Ensure strict compliance with hygiene, health, and safety standards
Maintain consistency and excellence across all meals and dining experiences
Work closely with lodge management to deliver exceptional guest satisfaction
Requirements:
Proven experience as an Executive Chef within a luxury lodge, hotel, or high-end hospitality environment
Demonstrated experience in setting up and launching a new kitchen operation
Strong leadership, organisational, and mentoring skills
Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen management systems
Ability to work in a remote or bush environment
Passion for quality, creativity, and attention to detail
