About the Opportunity
Medical Resources Group is recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established Medical Centre in the East Rand, for an experienced and professional Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner (OHNP)
The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting employee health, safety, and wellbeing by delivering comprehensive occupational health services, health surveillance programmes, and medical assessments in accordance with legislative and industry requirements.
This opportunity is ideally suited to an Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner (OHNP) who is passionate about workplace health and safety, highly organised, and able to work independently in a professional healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Occupational Health Services
Conduct occupational health assessments and medical surveillance examinations.
Perform specialised occupational health tests, including:
Audiometry
Spirometry
Vision Screening
ECGs
Design, implement, and manage employee health surveillance programmes.
Monitor employee health trends and identify potential workplace health risks.
Conduct follow-up assessments and referrals for employees in high-risk environments.
Workplace Health & Safety
Collaborate with safety officers and management to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation.
Promote health and wellness initiatives within the workplace.
Participate in workplace risk assessments and occupational health programmes.
Attend meetings relating to health and safety policies and occupational health trends.
Clinical & Emergency Care
Provide initial treatment for workplace injuries and medical emergencies.
Coordinate referrals to appropriate healthcare providers where necessary.
Support management and employees with health-related guidance and interventions.
Administration & Reporting
Maintain accurate, confidential medical records and occupational health documentation.
Prepare monthly and annual occupational health reports.
Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements and industry standards.
Manage clinic administration and day-to-day operational requirements.
Minimum Requirements
Essential Qualifications
Registered Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
Occupational Health Nursing Practitioner Qualification (Essential)
Current SASOHN Registration (Essential)
Professional Indemnity Insurance (Essential)
Certificate in Audiometry
Certificate in Spirometry
Vision Screening Qualification
Registration as an Audiometrist with SASOHN (where applicable)
Experience
Previous experience in an Occupational Health environment
Experience conducting medical surveillance programmes and occupational health assessments
Experience with occupational health reporting and compliance requirements
