PKF Cape Town is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tax Specialist to join their Tax Advisory team. As a Tax Specialist, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on various tax-related matters to ensure compliance with applicable legislation. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of South African tax legislation and possess exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES:
CA(SA) or Admitted Attorney (having done a rotation in tax division advantageous)
Higher Diploma in tax law or MCom or LLM in tax
At least 2-3 years post articles experience within a tax advisory/consulting environment.
Proven work experience as a Tax Consultant, or similar role, with a focus on tax advisory services.
In-depth knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and procedures, including individual and corporate taxation.
Deep understanding of tax laws, regulations, and codes relevant to their jurisdiction. Stay updated with changes in tax legislation and possess comprehensive knowledge of different tax provisions and their interpretations.
The ability to conduct thorough research to stay informed about changes, understand complex tax provisions, and provide up-to-date advice to clients.
Analytical skills with attention to detail, including the ability to interpret complex tax legislation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain tax strategies, requirements, and potential risks or benefits to clients in a clear and understandable manner.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Strong ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in dealing with sensitive financial information.
Building strong client relationships
Proficiency in MS Suite including excel and power point.
GreatSoft experience would be advantageous
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES, but not limited to:
Client Advisory and Consultation:
Act as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their specific tax needs and providing tailored solutions to optimize their tax positions, including trust planning as well as in relation to corporate restructures.
Respond to client inquiries and provide clear explanations regarding a variety of tax matters, including income tax, transfer pricing, VAT, transfer duty and securities transfer tax.
Interactions with SARS:
Assist clients in corresponding with SARS in relation to requests for relevant material and tax audits.
Attend to dispute resolution processes with SARS on behalf of clients, including the attendance of Alternative Dispute Resolution Meetings.
Attend to formal correspondence with SARS in relation to a variety of matters, including the preparation and submission of advance tax ruling applications, voluntary disclosure program applications and compromise applications.
Tax Research and Analysis:
Conduct thorough research on complex tax issues, interpret tax legislation and provide insightful recommendations to clients.
Stay updated on tax-related developments, including proposed legislative amendments, case law tax rulings and commentary and communicate the implications thereof to clients and internal stakeholders.
Team Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing:
Collaborate with colleagues to gather necessary information and ensure comprehensive tax advice and services.
Share tax-related knowledge, best practices, and industry updates with team members to enhance overall expertise and efficiency.
Provide training and mentorship to junior staff members, fostering their professional growth and development.
Business development:
Provide a service offering that assists with acquiring new clientele.
