Job Summary
Purpose of the role:
The PABX Technician’s role is to install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot private branch exchange (PABX/PBX) systems—particularly Yeastar and Samsung platforms—along with associated VoIP, networking, and cabling infrastructure to ensure reliable voice and data communication for business clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- To provide security/CCTV and associated telecom/networking infrastructure designs and specifications
- Complete full installation of CCTV, access control, alarm systems and turnstiles
- Conduct maintenance and repairs on CCTV, access control, alarms and turnstiles
- Access, update and program CCTV, access control, alarm systems and turnstiles
- Configuring of IP cameras and systems
- Configuring of access control
- Conduct fault finding analysis
- Provide training for end user after completion of installation and service
- Upon completion of full installation, handover must be completed with the client/customer
- Build rapport and relationships with existing customers to understand the needs of their current system
- Programming, installation and maintenance of PABX systems
- Conduct site survey before installations
- Troubleshooting on PABX
- Configuration of ADSL, VoIP, WiFi, 3G routers
- Set up of IP PBX VoIP network
- SIP Trunks and VoIP installations
- Installations and troubleshooting of cabling infrastructure
- Voice over IP network maintenance
- Connectivity – Fiber, Microwave links and LTE
- Data cabling and voice cabling
- Configuration of voicemail, auto attendant, SPNet, least cost routing (LCR), ring plans as well as voice and data integration
- Troubleshooting in a networking infrastructure
- Up to date with H&S regulations and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
- Communicate with customers to explain problems and procedures with the equipment
- Responsible for all boot stock allocated to you
- To ensure that the Service Coordinator is given accurate information relating to service calls and installation
- To complete all necessary paperwork relating to your job and to ensure that it is presented in an accurate manner and on time
Qualifications/Experience:
- Minimum Grade 12
- Valid Driver’s License
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a CCTV and PABX Technician
- Must have experience working on Yeastar, Samsung, Hikvision systems
- Experience in office automation Industry
