Reporting Line: Financial Manager / Finance Manager
Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to manage the full accounting function across multiple entities and projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring statutory compliance, managing cash flow, and preparing timely financial reports to support operational and strategic decision-making.
This is an important role within the finance team, with responsibility for ensuring financial integrity, accurate project profitability reporting, and effective month-end and year-end processes.
Maintain accurate and complete accounting records across multiple companies and business units.
Perform daily bank processing and prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
Process and review general ledger transactions, ensuring the correct allocation and coding of expenses and revenue.
Prepare and post month-end journals, including:
Accruals
Prepayments
Depreciation
Intercompany transactions
General ledger adjustments
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve reconciling items promptly.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls.
Manage the full accounts receivable function.
Prepare and issue customer invoices accurately and on time.
Allocate receipts and maintain accurate debtor accounts.
Monitor outstanding debtors and follow up on overdue accounts.
Assist with credit control processes to improve cash collection and reduce debtor ageing.
Manage the full accounts payable process from invoice receipt through to payment.
Verify supplier invoices and supporting documentation.
Process supplier invoices accurately and within required timelines.
Prepare creditor reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
Prepare payment runs for approval and processing.
Maintain strong supplier relationships and resolve account queries efficiently.
Monitor project-related costs and revenue across contracts and developments.
Maintain accurate inventory, stock, and work-in-progress records.
Ensure costs are correctly allocated to projects and contracts.
Process journals to recognise costs and revenue in line with company policies.
Assist with project profitability analysis and reporting.
Prepare and maintain short- and medium-term cash flow forecasts.
Monitor actual cash flows against forecasts and explain variances.
Assist management with liquidity planning and working capital management.
Monitor intercompany loan balances and funding requirements.
Process and reconcile intercompany transactions between group entities.
Maintain intercompany loan accounts and ensure balances agree across entities.
Support monthly and year-end consolidation processes.
Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.
Analyse financial results and identify variances, trends, risks, and opportunities.
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and maintain control accounts.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
Provide accurate, timely, and relevant financial information to management.
Support business decision-making through financial analysis and reporting.
Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and within statutory deadlines.
Perform VAT reconciliations and ensure compliance with applicable tax legislation.
Assist with annual audits and other statutory reviews.
Maintain appropriate supporting documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and governance requirements.
Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 3–5 years’ accounting experience in a commercial environment.
Experience managing the full accounting function, including:
Accounts payable
Accounts receivable
General ledger
Management reporting
Proven experience preparing management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
Experience working across multiple entities and projects will be advantageous.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong financial modelling and analytical abilities.
Sound understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Experience with accounting software and financial systems.
Experience with BuildSmart Accounting System will be advantageous.

Accurate project cost allocations and WIP reporting.
Effective debtor collection and working capital management.
Reliable cash flow forecasting and variance analysis.
Compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and company policies.
