Job Summary
Our client, a leading payments service provider, has an exciting opportunity for an Accountant in their growing Finance team based at their Head Office in Stellenbosch.
This role requires ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial operations while supporting the broader finance team and executive management. The ideal candidate is a proactive team player with strong financial acumen, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. They possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the general ledger by recording financial transactions and ensuring proper allocation of costs and revenues for various companies in the group.
- Assist with preparing monthly management accounts & related financial reports in line with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Perform reconciliations of accounts to investigate discrepancies.
- Implement and monitor financial controls and processes.
- Assist in external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations for financial activities.
- Prepare and load daily payments to business partners
- Support statutory reporting and compliance processes
- Reconcile intercompany loan balances.
- Provide financial information for Board Packs and executive analysis as needed.
- Collaborate with the finance team to address ad hoc queries and prepare specialised analysis.
Minimum requirements:
- Relevant post-graduate qualification in finance
- Completed articles (SAIPA/SAICA) or 3 years' relevant experience
- Experience with financial reporting for a listed entity, or a strong understanding of listed company reporting requirements and regulatory frameworks (e.g. IFRS and statutory reporting)
- Xero accounting package experience beneficial
- Previous financial/payments industry experience will be advantageous
- Fluent in business English, any additional languages will be seen as beneficial
- Own reliable transport
