Job Summary
My client is seeking an experienced Claims Assessor with strong technical motor industry knowledge and dealership experience.
The ideal candidate will be able to assess vehicle claims accurately, review technical information, validate repair requirements, and ensure claims are handled in line with company, manufacturer, and policy guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess motor vehicle claims and determine the validity of repairs, parts, labour, and technical findings.
- Review job cards, diagnostic reports, technician comments, quotations, invoices, and supporting claim documentation.
- Evaluate mechanical and technical failures to ensure claims are accurate, justified, and within required standards.
- Liaise with dealerships, workshops, service advisors, technicians, and internal departments to obtain additional information where required.
- Identify incorrect, incomplete, or non-compliant claim submissions and request corrections or supporting documents.
- Ensure claims are processed efficiently, accurately, and within agreed turnaround times.
- Apply sound technical judgement when approving, rejecting, or escalating claims.
- Maintain accurate records of all assessments, decisions, and supporting documentation.
- Provide technical guidance and feedback to dealerships or internal teams where needed.
- Assist with fraud detection, cost control, and claims quality improvement.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Motor Mechanic Trade Test, Diagnostic Technician Certificate, or Master Technician qualification.
- Previous dealership experience is essential.
- Strong technical understanding of vehicle systems, diagnostics, repairs, labour operations, and parts.
- Experience in claims, warranty, technical assessments, service advising, or workshop control will be advantageous.
- Computer literate with the ability to work on dealership or claims management systems.
