Job Summary
Minimum Requirements
● Relevant diploma or degree, or Previous experience in provisional tax administration (essential)
● Three to five years’ experience in a similar role
● Working knowledge of Greatsoft or Caseware, SARS eFiling and Excel
Key reponsibilities will include but not limited to:
Provisional Tax
● Filing and payment of IRP6 returns in line with all necessary procedures
● Attending to provisional tax amendments throughout the year
● Drafting letters to SARS regarding fines and interest, and the allocation of payments
● Submission of provisional tax verifications
eFiling Administration
● Administration of user profiles, including adding new users and updating existing profiles as necessary
● Administration of tax clearance applications
● Attending to eFiling queries from employees and clients
● Registering clients for new tax types (e.g. Income Tax, PAYE, (VAT) and updating the system accordingly
Income Tax Submissions
● Submission of income tax returns (ITR12, ITR14, IT12EI, (ITR12T) on Greatsoft and eFiling, in line with standard procedures
● Filing of objections, disputes and/or appeals in line with the standard operating procedure
● Informing clients of outcomes and filing the relevant documentation
SARS Registrations and Deregistrations
● Registering clients for VAT, PAYE, income tax, trusts, dividends withholding tax, customs and IT3(t), in line with standard procedures
● Coordinating biometric verification for VAT and PAYE registrations
● Processing deregistrations from tax types as required
Change in Status and Registration Details
● Administration of general changes in client status and registration details, including notifications to SARS
● Updating client banking details with SARS
● Annual application for tax directives (IRP3) for specific clients
SARS Queries – Assessment Penalties
● Checking SARS statements of account to confirm which tax returns are incomplete, communicating these to the relevant Director, and completing and filing the returns
● Requesting remission of penalties on eFiling
● Informing clients whether the request has been approved, partially approved or declined by SARS
SARS Queries
● Forwarding SARS communication and statements of account to the relevant staff member or client
● Arranging payment terms with SARS where necessary
● Drafting letters and compiling supporting documents, depending on the nature of the query
● Submitting documents within the time frames stipulated by SARS
● Communicating the outcomes of disputes and verifications to the relevant Directors and clients
Dividends Tax Declarations
● Submission of DTR01 and DTR02 returns on eFiling in line with standard procedures
● Forwarding resolutions to the Office Administrator for filing
Tax Exemption Unit Registrations (PBO)
● Administration of Tax Exemption Unit registrations for Public Benefit Organisations
SARS Appointments
● Arranging and attending SARS appointments on behalf of the relevant staff member and/or client
Client Take-on and Termination
● Taking on new clients in line with standard procedures
● Removing eFiling profiles of clients once they have been terminated by the Company Secretarial department
