Job Summary
This permanent opportunity is suited to a technically strong finance professional who is ready to take ownership of the end-to-end accounting and finance control function within a regulated environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Finance, contributing to financial performance, governance and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and complete monthly, quarterly and annual financial results
- Lead the external audit process and contribute to the successful completion of annual financial statements
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, regulatory and group reporting standards
- Oversee tax calculations and statutory submissions to SARS
- Manage and monitor expense controls and financial performance reporting
- Provide input into business planning, budgeting and forecasting processes
- Oversee IFRS 17 compliance and liaise with the actuarial function
- Strengthen internal controls and drive process improvements
- Support cash flow management and day-to-day finance operations
- Provide financial insights to support operational and strategic decisions
- Lead and manage junior finance team members
Job Experience and Skills Required:
- Relevant Finance / Accounting degree
- CA(SA) advantageous
- Minimum 4+ years’ experience in a senior finance role
- Leadership experience (at least 2 direct reports)
- Experience within the funeral, insurance or regulated environment (essential)
- Strong IFRS knowledge (IFRS 16 and 17 advantageous)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
