Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the CFO will act as a key business partner to the executive team, ensuring sound financial governance, operational efficiency, and long-term organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the full Finance and Administration functions, including payroll, creditors, debtors, POD, and claims.
- Oversee cash flow management, ensuring liquidity and financial stability.
- Ensure accurate billing, revenue completeness, and the integrity of debtors’ statements.
- Oversee full financial accounting, reporting, and compliance.
- Manage budgeting and forecasting processes, applying appropriate tools and methodology.
- Compile, analyse and distribute accurate monthly and quarterly management accounts and statutory reports.
- Oversee and support internal audits, ensuring adherence to deadlines and governance standards.
- Assess, recommend, and implement financial systems and process improvements.
- Conduct feasibility studies, due diligence assessments, and commercial evaluations as required.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and frameworks.
- Recruit, manage, mentor, and engage suitably qualified finance staff.
- Drive key financial KPIs including cash flow performance, EBITDA, margins, rolling forecasts, budgets, and financial statements.
Job Experience and Skills Required:
- Registered CA(SA) (essential).
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience managing a Finance department.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience leading a finance team.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen with proven experience in budgeting and forecasting.
- Excellent taxation knowledge (including cross-border legislation for neighbouring countries).
- Strong understanding of imports, exports, customs and duties.
- Proven experience implementing financial systems.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong employee management and IR-related capabilities.
- Advanced MS Excel proficiency.
- Extensive experience in the courier / freight / logistics industry (essential).
- Strong planning, organising, delegation, and project management capability.
- Strategic leadership ability with a hands-on approach.
