Fruit Pool Accountant

Our client, a leading organisation within the citrus export industry, is seeking to appoint an experienced Fruit Pool Accountant to join their finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a passion for financial accounting, cost accounting, and the agricultural export sector.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and manage fruit pool accounting processes
Prepare and process producer payments and remittance statements
Reconcile sales, commission and general ledger accounts
Process commercial invoices and manage balance sheet control accounts
Assist with cash flow planning and foreign exchange transaction monitoring
Supervise foreign currency bank accounts and related currency contracts
Administer debtors and creditors
Monitor overseas market performance to support financial planning and reporting
Ensure accurate cost allocation throughout the fruit production, packing and export process
Requirements
Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field
Minimum 5 years' experience in a financial accounting role
Previous experience within agriculture, fruit exports or FMCG will be highly advantageous
Strong understanding of cost accounting and reconciliation processes
Experience with foreign currency transactions and banking processes will be advantageous
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Experience working on ERP/accounting systems such as Syspro will be advantageous
Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to meet strict deadlines
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
Please note that daily travel to the Sundays River Valley is required. Convenient lift clubs are available to and from Port Elizabeth.
