Job Summary
PBT Group is looking for experienced Mainframe Developers to join our team in Cape Town on a hybrid contract basis.
We are looking for developers with strong COBOL and DB2 experience who have solid hands-on experience within mainframe environments and are comfortable working across the development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain and enhance applications within a mainframe environment.
Design, code, test and implement solutions using COBOL and DB2.
Analyse business and technical requirements and translate these into effective technical solutions.
Perform application enhancements, maintenance and troubleshooting.
Develop and optimise DB2 queries and database solutions.
Investigate and resolve production issues and system defects.
Participate in code reviews, testing and quality assurance activities.
Collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders and other delivery teams.
Produce and maintain technical documentation.
Support continuous improvement and ensure solutions align with development and architectural standards.
Key Requirements
Proven experience as a Mainframe Developer.
Strong hands-on COBOL development experience.
Strong DB2 experience.
Solid understanding of mainframe development environments and SDLC processes.
Experience with application maintenance, enhancements and production support.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a development team.
Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Advantageous
Experience with additional mainframe technologies and tools.
Experience within financial services or other large enterprise environments.
Exposure to Agile delivery methodologies.
Relevant IT qualification.
