Job Summary
Client of ours are seeking a Junior Cloud Engineer (AZURE) for a 12 month contract position - this is hybrid based and to start 1st SEPTEMBER 2025
Role Purpose:
- Support the delivery and maintenance of Microsoft Azure infrastructure. Assist with provisioning, automation, monitoring, and documentation using best practices in a cloud-first environment.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure Support
- Monitor and maintain Azure resources (VMs, storage, networking, etc.)
- Assist in provisioning and configuring cloud services
- Perform routine maintenance and updates.
Deployment and Configuration
- Support the deployment of applications and services in Azure.
- Use tools like Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, Bicep, or Terraform.
- Help configure CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting
- Monitor system performance using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
- Respond to alerts and incidents, escalating when necessary
- Assist in root cause analysis and resolution of issues
Security and Compliance
- Apply basic security configurations (NSGs, firewalls, RBAC)
- Support identity and access management using Azure AD.
- Help enforce compliance policies and governance standards
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Generate usage and performance reports
Collaboration and Learning
- Work closely with senior engineers, developers, and IT teams.
- Participating in team meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Continuously learn and stay updated on Azure services and best practices.
- Assist in cost optimization efforts.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Contribute to automation scripts and tools
Required Skills and Experience:
- Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with Microsoft Azure
- Understanding of core Azure services (Azure VMs, Storage, Networking, Azure Active Directory, etc.)
- Basic understanding of networking (DNS, VPN, firewalls, subnets, Azure Virtual Network (VNet), Network Security Groups (NSGs), and ExpressRoute).
- Strong Familiarity with the Azure Portal, Azure CLI, and ARM templates.
- Basic knowledge of Azure pricing, SLAs, and support plans.
- Basic administration of Windows Server and/or Linux.Experience with PowerShell or Bash scripting.
- Experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Bicep, Terraform, or ARM templates with exposure to CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
Education and Certification:
- Diploma, Degree in IT and/or related fields.
- Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) – required.
- AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate – advantageous
