Mechanical Design Engineer – Midrand Permanent | Engineering Department
A leading engineering organisation in the defence and mobility sector is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. The role covers full product‑life‑cycle design, development, prototyping, testing, and support of mechanical systems and components.
Key Responsibilities
Concept design, calculations, layouts, and FEA evaluation
Create solid models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings
Ensure correct drawing standards and technical integrity
Support prototype build, testing, and design improvements
Communicate with manufacturing and subcontractors during development
Manage subsystem design, documentation, and project targets
Attend internal and client design reviews
Provide production, procurement, and logistics support
Minimum Requirements
Degree/N‑Dip/B‑Tech in Mechanical or Design Engineering
5–7 years Mechanical Design Engineering experience
Experience in military vehicle design advantageous
Strong knowledge of electrical design principles
Proficient in SolidWorks, Onshape, or similar
Other Requirements
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Experience with prototyping, testing, and validation
High attention to detail and problem‑solving ability
Ability to work independently and in a team
Strong product‑design knowledge
