Job & Company Description:
As a Pursuit Manager, you will take ownership of opportunities from qualification through to contract readiness, ensuring they are commercially viable, strategically aligned, and positioned for success. Acting as the bridge between opportunity development and proposal execution, you will lead pursuit strategy, coordinate cross-functional teams, and drive commercial decision-making to maximise conversion while protecting margin and delivery certainty.
This role requires a strong blend of commercial acumen, stakeholder management, strategic thinking, and governance discipline. You will work closely with Sales, Business Development, Sales Engineering, Proposals, and Estimation teams to ensure opportunities are thoroughly developed and executed through a structured pursuit process.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Commerce, Project Management, or a related field
- Formal sales, commercial management, or project management qualifications will be advantageous
Job Experience & Skills Required:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Pursuit Management, Bid Management, Business Development, Commercial Management, Sales Enablement, or a similar role
- Experience within engineering, industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, EPC, energy, or technical solutions environments
- Strong understanding of sales processes, opportunity qualification, pursuit management, and deal governance
- Proven ability to lead complex, high-value commercial pursuits from qualification through to close
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams including Sales, Engineering, Estimation, and Proposal functions
- Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience protecting margins and managing pricing strategies
- Demonstrated ability to develop win strategies and competitive positioning approaches
- Experience managing CRM pipelines and maintaining forecast accuracy
- Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and influencing skills
- Ability to make sound commercial decisions while balancing business risk and growth objectives
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship management abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the full pursuit lifecycle from qualification through to contract readiness
- Define and drive pursuit strategies to maximise conversion success
- Ensure opportunities are sufficiently developed before pursuit activation
- Drive alignment between commercial intent, technical solutions, and pricing strategies
- Coordinate Sales, Sales Engineering, Proposals, and Estimation teams throughout pursuits
- Maintain governance compliance and support bid/no-bid decision-making processes
- Ensure commercial integrity, margin protection, and deal quality across all opportunities
- Monitor pipeline progression and drive opportunity advancement through disciplined client engagement
- Support continuous improvement of pursuit methodologies and conversion effectiveness
- Prepare opportunities for negotiations, proposal submissions, and successful close-out
