Job & Company Description:
As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the successful execution of mining and mineral processing projects within an EPC environment. You will oversee project planning, engineering coordination, procurement support, fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, suppliers, contractors, and clients while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and technical standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Education:
- BEng/BSc/BTech in Mechanical Engineering
- ECSA registration or candidacy towards professional registration will be advantageous
Job Experience & Skills Required:
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Mechanical Project Engineer
- Proven EPC project experience within mining, mineral processing, or heavy industrial environments
- Experience managing mechanical equipment packages and process plant projects
- Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control
- Experience overseeing fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities
- Knowledge of pumps, thickeners, mills, materials handling systems, tanks, piping, and related plant equipment
- Ability to review mechanical designs, drawings, technical specifications, and vendor documentation
- Strong contract administration and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required
