Introduction Harmony Gold Mine is looking for a qualified and experienced Diesel Mechanic to provide specialised mechanical maintenance and repair support to mining operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining diesel equipment and machinery to ensure maximum availability, minimum breakdowns and safe operating conditions. This role is suited to a technically strong individual with fault-finding ability, sound problem-solving skills and a strong commitment to health and safety. Min requirements N2 trade-related subjects or 10 years' experience as a qualified artisan Recognised trade test certificate Learnership contract / proof of formal training / workbook Medical certificate of fitness First Aid certificate English proficiency Own transport to attend to standby call-outs Previous mining experience will be advantageous Previous experience on relevant diesel mechanical equipment will be advantageous Sound knowledge of mechanical maintenance, fault-finding and repair procedures Job description summary Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on diesel equipment and machinery Ensure equipment availability and reduce breakdowns and downtime Carry out daily inspections, servicing and scheduled maintenance Perform fault-finding, temporary repairs and permanent repairs where required Maintain and repair hydraulic and diesel-related systems Complete job cards, logbooks and maintenance records accurately Respond to breakdowns promptly and support production requirements Ensure correct use of tools, materials and replacement parts Conduct and participate in risk assessments before work starts Supervise or guide assistants where necessary and provide technical support to production teams Comply with all MHSA, SOPs, COPs and company safety standards
