Job Summary
You will work extensively with PLC, SCADA, and OEM automation platforms to design, implement, and commission systems across industrial environments. This role is highly hands-on, requiring strong involvement in site work, commissioning, and troubleshooting. It is ideally suited to an engineer who has a solid foundation in automation and is looking to step into more ownership and technically challenging projects.
Education & Skills:
- NQF Level 6 or higher in Electrical, Electronic, Control Systems, or Computer Science Engineering.
- 4–6 years of experience in automation system projects.
- Strong technical report writing skills.
- PLC and SCADA programming experience.
- Knowledge of MES, IIoT, and project management tools (MS Excel and MS Project).
- Understanding of procurement, risk management, and Health & Safety.
- OEM certifications in automation platforms (e.g., Siemens, AVEVA, Schneider Electric, Rockwell, Adroit, and Mitsubishi) advantageous.
Job Experience & Skills Required:
- Understand project scope, deliverables, and timelines.
- Plan, develop, and implement automation and control system solutions.
- Produce accurate technical drawings and project documentation.
- Perform onsite commissioning and provide technical support.
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
- Communicate effectively with clients, partners, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Report progress, risks, and variations to project leadership.
- Continuously improve technical knowledge and maintain relevant certifications.
- Contribute to process improvements and share engineering expertise.
- Complete administrative tasks, including timesheets, expenses, and document management.
