Our client is searching for an Electrical Engineer to join their team in Bryanston.

JOB PURPOSE

The primary function would be to design MV and LV electrical systems, mainly for the mining industry. Must assume responsibility and be willing to propose possible solutions within a process, work on multiple projects simultaneously and show inventiveness in the technology space.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Review client proposals in terms of electrical engineering and design

• Design electrical distribution systems mainly for low voltage, with limited medium voltage required

• Design electrical schematics and connection diagrams

• Provide technical input for basic and detailed design

• Evaluate vendor proposals for clarification

• Electrical equipment FAT and SAT with commissioning exposure or experience

• Assist in planning and reviewing technical work and maintaining project schedules

• As-build drawing redlines of existing electrical systems

• Good understanding of standards to evaluate quality of installed electrical systems

• Perform point-to-point wiring and functional checks on LV and MV equipment

• Assist with commissioning support for new electrical systems

• Work closely with other Discipline Managers/Project Managers/ Engineering Managers and aspire to support and achieve goals of the Company

• Accurate specifications per project

• Fit-for-purpose latest technology designs:

  • LV Electrical Systems

  • MV Electrical Systems

• Appropriate application of client & regional standards/ specifications

• Configuration and fault finding of LV & MV installations

• Functional checking and quality control of installed equipment

• Client training & handover

• Recommendations based on Technical and commercial evaluation of vendors/ contractors

• On Brief on Budget and on-time delivery

• Managingself-responsibilitywith regards to time, attendance, and quality

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIRED

• BSc / BEng / BTech Electrical

• Registered as a Professional Engineer or Technician n(PrTechEng with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). Registered candidate optional

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• 7 years’ relevant working experience in the mining industry with a proven track record in engineering and commissioning

• Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations

• Brownfields and Greenfields project execution experience

• Ability to work across disciplines, have excellent communication skills and ability to work well with others

• Demonstrated ability in planning and organising, controlling, coordinating, and directing engineering activities
