Roles and Responsibilities
Our client is seeking an experienced and results-driven Site Agent with proven experience in bridge construction to lead and manage bridge and associated civil engineering works on a major infrastructure project.
This is a 7-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall planning, execution, supervision, quality, safety, programme, and commercial performance of the site while ensuring compliance with client and contractual requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
Plan, manage and coordinate all bridge construction activities from site establishment through to project completion.
Supervise construction teams, subcontractors, and plant resources to ensure safe and efficient project delivery.
Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documentation.
Manage reinforced concrete bridge works, foundations, piling, abutments, piers, decks, retaining structures, culverts, and associated civil works.
Ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and applicable legislation.
Prepare and monitor construction programmes and ensure milestones are achieved.
Manage labour productivity, plant utilization, and material requirements.
Conduct daily site meetings and provide progress reports to senior management and the client.
Identify project risks and implement mitigation measures.
Ensure adherence to Occupational Health and Safety requirements and environmental compliance.
Desired Experience & Qualification
NQF Level 6 in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Candidate or Professional Engineering Technician/Technologist will be advantageous.
Minimum 6 years' experience in civil engineering construction.
At least 4 years' proven experience as a Site Agent on bridge construction projects.
Demonstrated experience in:
Reinforced concrete bridge construction
Bridge rehabilitation and maintenance
Piling and deep foundations
Earthworks and roadworks associated with bridge construction
Structural concrete works
Temporary work and falsework
Experience working on SANRAL bridge projects will be a strong advantage.
Knowledge of GCC and FIDIC contracts will be advantageous.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and MS Project or similar planning software.
Valid Code B driver's license.
Willingness to travel and work on remote construction sites.
Engaging with client safety representatives, inspectors, and regulatory authorities.
