Job Summary
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Government Certificate of Competency (GCC – Mines & Works)
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a mining environment, preferably in open cast chrome operations
- Strong knowledge of plant maintenance, mining equipment, and safety regulations
- Proven leadership and team management experience

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee and manage all mechanical maintenance activities across the mine and both processing plants
- Ensure optimal performance, availability and reliability of all mechanical equipment
- Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies
- Manage breakdowns and ensure minimal downtime through effective troubleshooting
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, health, and environmental legislation
- Lead and mentor maintenance teams, including artisans and foremen
- Manage budgets, costs, and procurement of mechanical spares and services
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant efficiency and reduce operational costs
- Liaise with production teams to ensure alignment between maintenance and operational targets
- Compile and present technical reports and maintenance performance metrics
