This role is responsible for maintaining machinery, electrical systems, and automation equipment to ensure optimal production performance. The successful candidate will support uninterrupted manufacturing operations through effective maintenance, troubleshooting, and adherence to safety standards. Experience with plastic injection moulding machinery is essential.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Perform routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance on industrial equipment, including injection moulding machines and ancillary systems (chillers, conveyors, compressors, assembly stations).
Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechatronic faults, including control circuits, automation issues, and machine malfunctions.
Work with PLCs, servo motors, robotics, and HMI systems for machine automation and control.
Install and upgrade electrical systems, wiring, machinery components, and automation hardware.
Support engineering teams with machine retrofits, electrical/mechatronic improvements, and continuous improvement projects.
Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, parts used, equipment history, and work orders.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, including OHS Act requirements and Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures.
Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to schedule repairs and communicate progress.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace.
Understand moulds, materials, and the injection moulding process.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 or N3 qualification.
Trade-tested Industrial Electrician or Mechatronics Technician or relevant Engineering qualification.
Injection moulding machinery experience – essential.
Mechatronics experience or additional mechatronics qualification required for this position.
3+ years of industrial manufacturing experience.
Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, three-phase power, motor controls, and schematics.
PLC, HMI, servo motor, and automation system proficiency.
Skilled with electrical testing tools and industrial machine diagnostics.
Ability to work independently under pressure with strong fault-finding capabilities.
Physically fit to work in factory conditions and able to work shifts as required.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
