TECHNICAL SUPERVISOR (Diesel Mechanic)
Our National Automotive Manufacturing Leader is looking for a TECHNICAL SUPERVISOR to join their Port Elizabeth plant. Experience in Trucking mechanics, highly advantageous.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Grade 12
• Overhead Crane License
• MS Office Suite
• Qualified Diesel Mechanic
• Experience in a supervisory position
• Code 10/14
• Electrical & Mechanical Studies
• Engine building experience
• Gearbox building experience
• Advanced AMT course or equivalent
• Good knowledge on Air and Hydraulic brake systems
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure adherence to the company`s rules and regulations as documented in the company`s disciplinary policy;
• Ensure adherence to all health and safety practices and procedures as defined during induction and other health & Safety training;
• Ensure and maintain constant workflow;
• Ensure that the daily and monthly targets are met as assigned by management;
• Ensure that catch up plans are given and met by due dates if daily or monthly plans are not met;
• Ensure to promote Teamwork in team talks with effective communication between the Teams and supporting departments;
• Ensure to allocate the workload evenly amongst your subordinates;
• Ensure that your daily reports are submitted timeously to your Manager or as delegated;
• Ensure that WIP work are planned correctly and carried out as received;
• Ensure weekly rotation plan for the team are communicated to ensure the schedule are met;
• Ensure vehicles are moved to the next process upon completion of tasks;
• Oversee, ensure and verify that vehicle technician’s repair and sign off on all items listed on the vehicle job card as completed including the Daily WIP reports;
• Oversee and ensure vehicle technicians have completed the daily task sheet and received on or before the end of each shift;
• Oversee and ensure all rejected parts process are being followed in the department to ensure a speedy turn around on new or substitute parts;
Oversee and ensure all Aftersales bulletins are repaired as identified from Aftersales;
• Oversee and ensure diagnostics and repairs are done to ensure the correct programs are loaded on vehicles;
• Ensure permission is obtained from the Quality Manager for any major component repairs or replacements;
• Lead in solving the technical, tooling and other problems found in the production process of assembling vehicles;
• Form a corresponding report and feedback on the problems found, follow up with the problem-solving progress and provide feedback timeously;
• Responsible for collecting technical issues from sales, after-sales, other branches and other departments of the company;
• Lead in the formulation of the technical and the process standards that can assist in the development of accurate Work Instructions;
• Any Technical changes need to be communicated to all relevant department to ensure effective communications are maintained when it comes to technical, process standards and vehicle rectification;
• Lead the organizing in compiling the product's local technical drawings or changes when required;
• Assist the company headquarters with the certification of new models or products;
• Responsible for solving issues and also to train and support the production, quality, body shop, paint shop, PDI and adjustment team with issues and training and facilitating;
• Support in Training new team members during the induction phases;
• Perform random audits as specified for each model truck when required;
• Scanning of all completed trucks into stock for sales to be able to collect timeously;
• Oversee and ensure that all vehicles worked on have been locked and that the keys are handed back to the stock controller on or before the end of each shift as per the key control policy;
• Ensure daily tasks and requirements are carried out effectively in the event of absenteeism;
• Ensure to investigate and diagnose any component failures detected;
• Oversee and ensure that replaced parts are fitted correctly and retested;
• Ensure that all tools are inspected daily and remain in good working order;
• Oversee and assist with new technical designs for assembly components;
• Oversee and ensure that all technical information is correct as per the Technical drawings;
• Oversee and ensure all air pipes are fitted in line with the technical requirements to all vehicles as per model design;
• Co-ordinate all modifications that are required from after-sales on parts and processes when required;
• Participate and attend all meetings as delegated;
• Attend daily and monthly feedback meetings or as required;
• Ensure to enforce discipline within the department in line with the company policies and procedures;
• Adhoc function which may fall in the ambit of the job requirements.
