Job Summary
Workshop Cleaner:
Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organised workshop environment.
Ensure compliance with the Hitachi Health & Safety Policy and Procedures, as well as the company’s Safe Work and ISO-related procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, waste disposal, and restroom maintenance, to ensure all areas remain clean and hygienic.
- Comply with all safety regulations, including the proper use of PPE and the safe handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Maintain all cleaning tools, materials, and supplies in good working condition, and promptly report any faults, shortages, or maintenance requirements to the Supervisor.
- Interact professionally with staff and visitors while supporting overall site operations and promoting a positive work environment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised workshop at all times.
- Adhere to the company’s Health & Safety Policy and Procedures, ensuring compliance with Safe Work and ISO-related standards.
Requirements:
- South African Unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34.
- Must not have participated on the YES programme before.
- Matric
- Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, materials, and equipment.
- Exposure to heavy machinery or industrial workspaces (advantageous).
Skills and Competencies:
- Knowledge of health, safety, and hygiene standards in an industrial setting.
- Ability to safely handle cleaning equipment (e.g., industrial vacuums, pressure washers).
- Understanding of correct disposal methods for hazardous materials (oil, grease, waste).
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks.
- Attention to detail to maintain cleanliness in high-use areas.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety regulations.
