Our client in the manufacturing industry is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join their team based in Port Elizabeth.
To control factory maintenance operations and resources to support the achievement of production targets and ensure optimal product quality standards in a safe and efficient manner.
Requirements:
Diploma in Technical or Maintenance-related field (NQF 6)
Certificate in Technical or Maintenance-related field (NQF 5)
Trade Test (NQF 5)
First Line Management qualification (NQF 5)
Up to 5 years’ Maintenance experience in a Manufacturing environment
1–2 years’ Supervisory experience
Shift work experience (advantageous)
MS Office Suite
SAP / ERP systems
Strong knowledge of maintenance practices and procedures
Understanding of manufacturing compliance and safety regulations
Responsibilities:
Maintenance Operations and Control (55%)
Ensure effective reactive, predictive, and preventative maintenance on plant, infrastructure, and equipment
Coordinate first-line maintenance to minimise downtime
Raise and approve job cards and ensure correct work permit procedures (hot work, vessel entry, elevated work)
Conduct Root Cause Analysis (5 WHY, 8D, etc.) on equipment failures
Monitor and rectify equipment failures timeously
Coordinate plant shutdowns and provide structured feedback
Ensure safety, housekeeping, and maintenance standards are consistently upheld
Submit written maintenance reports to management
Compliance (15%)
Operate within internal controls and procedures
Identify and report risks within area of responsibility
Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation
Prevent fruitless, wasteful, or irregular expenditure
Maintain proper documentation and incident reporting
Customer Service (10%)
Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Represent the company in relevant meetings
Minimise comebacks and discrepancies
Solve problems proactively and in line with company values
Staff Supervision (10%)
Ensure performance agreements are in place
Conduct quarterly appraisals
Identify development needs with HR and implement action plans
Drive training and development initiatives
Address employee relations matters fairly and promptly
Cost and Financial Control (10%)
Contribute to budget preparation
Monitor expenditure against budget
Identify cost-saving opportunities
Ensure financial compliance and transparent resource use
