A well-established manufacturing business based in Killarney Gardens, Cape Town is seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced Plastic Injection Moulding Toolmaker to join their toolroom team on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the manufacture, maintenance, repair and modification of plastic injection moulds used within a production and manufacturing environment. This role requires a hands-on, technically strong Toolmaker who can work accurately, independently and under pressure, while supporting production output and maintaining high-quality toolroom standards.
The ideal candidate must have solid practical experience working specifically with plastic injection moulding tools, together with strong fault-finding ability, attention to detail and a sound understanding of mould maintenance and repair processes.
Minimum Requirements:
- Qualified Toolmaker with a recognised trade qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience.
- Experience working on plastic injection moulds is essential.
- Strong knowledge of mould maintenance, repairs and modifications.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience using conventional toolroom machinery.
- CNC experience will be advantageous.
- Must be able to work accurately and independently.
- Good practical problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team.
- Must be able to work from the company’s premises in Killarney Gardens.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manufacture, maintain, repair and modify plastic injection moulds.
- Perform preventative maintenance on moulds to reduce downtime and support production efficiency.
- Fault-find and repair mould-related issues.
- Assist with tool trials, mould improvements and modifications where required.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, tool designs and specifications.
- Operate conventional toolroom machinery safely, accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure all tooling work is completed to the required quality and production standards.
- Support the production team by ensuring moulds are available, operational and in good working condition.
- Work closely with the toolroom, production and quality teams to resolve tooling and production-related issues.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised toolroom working environment.
- Follow safe working practices and company procedures at all times.
