Job Summary
Our Textile Manufacturing client is currently looking for a Financial Internal Auditor Supervisor based in Mobeni, Durban.
They are a Leading textile manufacturing group with diversified operations across manufacturing, distribution, and trading activities. As part of our commitment to strengthening corporate governance, risk management, operational excellence, and internal controls, we have recently established an Internal Audit Function and are seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to capacitate this critical function.
This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to shape and develop the Internal Audit Department from inception and become a key advisor to Executive/Senior Management and the Board.
Position Purpose
The Internal Auditor will be responsible for managing and implementing the Internal Audit Function across the Group. The successful candidate will provide independent and objective assurance regarding the effectiveness of governance processes, risk management practices, internal controls, financial reporting, compliance, and operational efficiency.
The role requires a dynamic thinker with strong leadership ability, real-world audit experience, and the ability to engage effectively with executive management and operational leadership.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Internal Auditing, Commerce, or a related field.
- CIA qualification would be a strong positive (Certified Internal Auditor)
Experience
- Minimum 3 years' relevant audit experience.
- Demonstrated experience in establishing or managing an internal audit function.
- Experience within manufacturing, industrial, FMCG, or related operational environments will be highly advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of governance, risk management, internal controls, and compliance frameworks.
Technical Competencies
- Risk-based auditing methodologies.
- COSO Internal Control Framework.
- Internal audit standards issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
- Financial reporting and accounting controls.
- ERP systems and IT control environments.
- Data analytics and audit technologies

- Functional Reporting: EXCO
- Administrative Reporting: Group Financial Officer
Key Responsibilities
Internal Audit Management
- Establish and develop the Internal Audit Function, including methodologies, policies, procedures, and audit standards in conjunction with an external service provider.
- Develop and maintain the Internal Audit Charter in line with professional standards.
- Prepare and execute a risk-based annual internal audit plan.
- Manage all internal audit activities across the Group's operations.
Risk Management & Internal Controls
- Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls.
- Conduct enterprise-wide risk assessments.
- Assess the effectiveness of risk mitigation measures and governance processes.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of control frameworks.
Operational & Financial Audits
- Perform operational, compliance and financial audits.
- Review manufacturing, inventory, procurement, payroll and financial reporting processes.
- Identify control weaknesses, operational inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Recommend practical solutions to strengthen business performance.
Compliance & Governance
- Assess compliance with company policies, legislation, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor adherence to internal governance frameworks and ethical standards.
- Support management in strengthening corporate governance practices.
Investigations & Fraud Management
- Conduct investigations into suspected fraud, misconduct, control failures, and operational irregularities.
- Assist with fraud risk assessments and prevention initiatives.
- Recommend corrective actions and monitor implementation.
Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
- Present audit findings and recommendations to Executive Management, Audit Committees, and the Board.
- Prepare high-quality audit reports and executive summaries.
- Track management action plans and report on implementation progress.
- Build strong working relationships across all business units.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay abreast of emerging risks, industry developments, and best practices in internal auditing.
- Promote a culture of risk awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organisation.
