Position Summary
An established tourism and outdoor adventure operation is seeking a hands-on and motivated General Manager to oversee the day-to-day management, operational performance and ongoing growth of the business.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading all aspects of the operation, including staff management, guest experience, operational standards, safety compliance, maintenance coordination, administration, reporting, stakeholder engagement and overall business performance.
The role reports directly to the Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of all activities and guest experiences.
- Lead, manage and develop staff through effective performance management, scheduling, training and team engagement.
- Maintain exceptional customer service standards and ensure a positive guest experience.
- Ensure compliance with operational safety procedures, quality standards and maintenance requirements.
- Coordinate closely with administrative and reservations personnel to support efficient booking processes and communication.
- Monitor operational reporting, inventory management and general administrative functions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with accommodation providers, tour operators, schools, community organisations and other industry stakeholders.
- Support and drive local marketing initiatives, strategic partnerships and group booking opportunities.
- Act as a professional ambassador for the business within the tourism and hospitality sectors.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve operational efficiency, service delivery and business growth.
Desired Experience and Attributes
- Previous management experience within the tourism, hospitality, leisure or adventure tourism sectors would be advantageous.
- Strong leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and people management abilities.
- Customer-focused with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as required by operational needs.
- Passion for tourism, outdoor recreation and delivering memorable guest experiences.
